This video shows some of the destruction in Blenheim, a small town in southwestern Schoharie County. I spent a bit of time in Blenheim this summer, as it is the home of the beautiful Minekill State Park where I had hiked a few times. Blenheim, along with many of its neighboring towns, were all but destroyed by Irene. Schoharie County saw unprecedented flooding during and after the storm, and many local residents have lost everything and are staying at shelters throughout the county.
I live in Schoharie County, and have friends and family who suffered major losses during the storm. I encourage anyone who can donate to please do so.
Donations of nonperishable food items, diapers, water, new clothing from child to adult, toiletries and money (100% goes to individual victims) may be made to the Schoharie County Community Action Program. SCCAP MEMO: FLOOD VICTIMS Call (518) 234-2568
