I just got done watching this, and I didn’t care for it much. IMDb reviews are generally positive and tend to ignore the gaping plot holes. Claude Rains was miscast to the point where you wonder what anyone involved was thinking. John Garfield was good, but lacked any chemistry with his bland love interest, Gloria Dickson.

And I can’t get over the ugly poster. That typography and layout are crimes against good taste. It also makes the film look like some dark and compelling noir, which it really is not.
